Chapristi wandered the streets for an unknown number of years before being taken in by The Aristopaws due to respiratory issues.
Although it’s possible that Chapristi only became familiar with humans later in life, he is very easygoing, calm, and affectionate. He enjoys being brushed, petted, and cuddling up with his human. But what Chapristi loves most is the foster family’s dog — he rubs against him and stays close whenever he can.
Chapristi has a grade 3/6 heart murmur. Additionally, an echocardiogram showed that the thickness of his heart muscle falls into a gray zone between normal and hypertrophy (thickening). This measurement may simply be normal for him, or it could indicate that Chapristi is in the early stages of developing a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
A follow-up echocardiogram with a cardiologist is therefore ideally recommended in 12 months (February 2027) to monitor any progression.
