Selection Process – Adoption

Many people had questions about our adoption protocol, so here’s how it works.

1) The animal is posted for adoption in our For adoption album on our Facebook page as well as on Les Pattes Jaunes. As long as the animal is posted and the form is available, it means we are taking applications. If the link is no longer available, it means we’ve received enough applications. The length of time a form remains available varies from one animal to another, for instance, older animals aren’t always as popular as puppies and kittens.

2) Once applications are closed, we screen the forms according to the animal’s needs. If you sent an application, you’ll receive news from us by email within 7 business days. If you haven’t received anything, check your junk mail. NB: If you sent your application through Les Pattes Jaunes, you’ll receive an email within 3 business days with a link to our adoption form.

3) If your application is refused, you’ll receive and email to inform you. If it is accepted, you’ll receive an email inviting you to a telephone interview. Once you’ve received that email, you have 48 hours to respond with your availability, otherwise you may miss your chance. Again, remember to check your junk mail.

4) Once the telephone interview is completed, you’ll be contacted by email within the next 7 days to confirm whether or not you’ve been selected.

5) In some cases, families who have not been selected may be offered a spot on our waiting list. People on that list will be contacted first, even before we post an animal for adoption, if it meets their initial criteria. At that point, they also have 48 working hours to respond. NB: Only people who have ALREADY gone through our selection process may be added to our waiting list.

6) If you have been selected to adopt, an electronic contract to be signed will be sent to you within 48 hours following the announcement. Adoption fees must be sent within 5 business days following the signature of the contract. Once received, we’ll sign our part and organize the animal’s transfer to your home. Transportation is provided by a member of our team at the earliest possible time, so there’s no need to insist on picking up the animal yourself.
